Time flies! It’s almost September and the general election is nigh, which means it’s time to make sure you and all your friends are registered to vote. Here’s a handy guide with state-by-state deadlines to get you sorted.
We’re still reeling (and recovering) from an unbelievable second episode in which some of our scene’s most dedicated party crews showed us how it’s done. Nearly 300,000 of you tuned in to rave alongside Desert Hearts, Dirtybird, Sofi Tukker and friends, and to absorb on-the-ground wisdom from civic leaders and community activists like Tafarai Bayne and Miss Barbie-Q. And most importantly, you continued to boost momentum around voter registration. So far, we’ve seen more than 1,300 voter actions taken via our website, which includes first time voters, absentee ballot requests and registration status verifications. Well done. Let’s keep going.
Episode three promises to be just as action-packed with DJ sets from some of electronic music’s most influential leading ladies, including Yaeji, DJ Minx, The Blessed Madonna, Aluna (formerly of AlunaGeorge), and many more. We’ll have Detroit icon Carl Craig reminding us where this magical scene came from, and the game-changing NYC duo AceMoma giving us a glimpse at where it’s headed. On the education front, Stacey Abrams’ sister Dr. Jeanine Abrams McLean will speak about the importance of Fair Count, an organization dedicated to achieving an accurate count of Georgia’s citizens in the 2020 census and to strengthening pathways to greater civic participation. Also, a brilliant group of Black thought-leaders, including Eddie S. Glaude Jr., Andrae Alexander, and Shana Redmond, will discuss the intersection of race, culture, and music in America. Stick around for an afterparty hosted by Papi Juice, the queer and trans people of color art collective who have been holding it down in Brooklyn since 2013.
Check out the full lineup below and join us on September 11th at 12PM on Twitch.TV/LostResortTV.
